Casting Crowns - I Will Praise You In This Storm

Have you ever felt that way? Like in the song? I have been feeling this way a lot lately, I will explain more in a little bit but first let me tell you what the Lord did this morning :) I awoke with the parable that talks about building your house on the rock...do you know which one I am talking about? Its Matthew 7:24-26:

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand."

The Lord gave me this parable in response to my questions of: where are you? Why haven't you come through for us yet? Why am I even going through this, aren't I a daughter of the King and therefore exempt from trials like these? And then Jesus pops into my head this parable. The rain came, the streams rose and the winds blew on both the one that built his house on the rock and the one who built his house on the sand (the righteous and the unrighteous). The rains are a guarantee but how you get through them and in what condition you walk out of them is dependent on where you put your trust. My trust is in Jesus, the Maker of heaven and earth. If Jesus is supreme over the universe then He is sufficient for me. If Jesus can sustain the cosmos then He can sustain me.

And the same goes for you too! If Christ can sustain the cosmos then He can sustain you!

The reason all of this came about is because of finances...go figure! If Satan wants to freak you out and cause you to start doubting in the Lord Almighty he'll try messing with your wallet. Kyle and I had a budget to raise, which we kind of did. We were counting on my job, that I was hoping to get when we got to Washington, to supplement the rest of our income. The Lord had other plans. We get here and no job was to be had. We live in a college town and EVERYONE is looking for a job. So if you take 2/3 budget raised + expensive move across the US + no job for Brittany you get a whirlwind of a storm. But we are trusting and we are believing the Lord to sustain us.

Let me give you the break down...

Our monthly budget: $2200
We have commitments for: $1320
What we had to work with last month: $900

With a rent payment that eats about 2/3 of that you can see why we would need to find comfort in having a house built on rock. For these reasons, we find it imperative to continue raising support and to ask you, our support family, to come along side us as the means to an end. The means being to raise money, the end being to begin a healthy pattern of ministry that will allow us to continue to minister for a lifetime.

How can you help?

1) We need help finding people who are interested in supporting missions. If you know a second cousin or a lady from church or your best friend or someone else who might be interested in joining our support team please let us know.

2) Can you make sure your monthly giving is set up and coming out? We receive a run down of everyone who gives each month but since everything is a month behind sometimes it takes 2-3 paychecks before everyone is back on board and running smoothly.

3) Please pray with us for my (Brittany) job. I want to be in a place where I can make an impact on the lives of those I am working with here on earth and eternally.

Thank you for your prayers and your financial giving. We are all in this together and we are grateful for that!

We love you!!!

  1. You are in out prayers and we think about you both often. What you said about the parable was right on. I needed to hear that this morning too. I had never thought of it that way. Both the righteous and the unrighteous go through the storm, but its about who makes it out and what conditions they do it in and their attitude during the storm. You will make it out we all will. Love you both.
