"Top Party Schools: Ohio University, University of Georgia Are Your Best Bets for Debauchery"

"Top party schools: Who needs an education when you can pay thousands upon thousands of dollars to party yourself into oblivion? Apparently a lot of people base their collegiate future upon which school offers the most opportunities to cut loose, though I’m sure potential students aren’t running this particular fact past their parents. Unless, of course, their moms and dads are partiers, too, in which case they may have openly recommended places like Ohio University or the University of Georgia. If fun is your major, then these schools are your best option." July 20. 2012

"Debauchery", huh?  This came from an article I just read online about Ohio University.  Kyle and I hope to re-pioneer a Chi Alpha here in the near future.  Until then we are going through the steps for Kyle to be a licensed pastor with the AG and for us to become nationally appointed missionariesThis week Kyle took his licensing exam and we had our relational meeting with one of the pastors here in Dayton.  Two weeks from now we will be having our interview with the missions board.  Hopefully shortly after this we will be officially appointed missionaries to OU.  Please pray that we don't forget a step.  We are trying to run two tracks right now: becoming licensed and nationally appointed, and we have let things slip and almost fall through the cracks more times than I would like to admit.

This weekend is the largest party that OU throws.  20,000 people are expected to fill the streets of Athens!!!  Young people come from all around, even from other states to party all night and get as drunk as they can.  Even a guy I work with at Starbucks who isn't in college right now had a buddy pick him up today at 5pm so they could head down and get ready for this thing!  It starts tomorrow evening.

There is a team of about 18 of us loading up in 2 vans and heading down there tomorrow evening to minister to whoever and as many people as we can.  I have not been before and don't totally know what expect.  I am worried about how tired I might become since I go to bed at 7:30pm to be up and and at work by 4:30am.  Please pray for the Lord's strength to sustain me. I am afraid of being surrounded by so many drunk people that I won't know what to do.  Please pray for the leading of the Holy Spirit in our team's hearts to know where to go and where not to go and for us to have the right words to say.  I am concerned that I will be too selfish worrying about my own needs of being too cold or too tired that I won't see the brokenness in the people around me.  Please pray for the love and compassion of Jesus to rush through our hearts, that we would see these young people as Jesus sees them and that we would have such a deep love for them.

Jesus is more than a ticket to heaven, He is the hope for our day to day as well.  May more people realize that He cares about both :)
