It's Been a Long Time Coming...

9 1/2 years ago I (Brittany) was walking to class, depressed, lonely, hopeless, didn't know who I was, how to live life well, let alone to it's fullest.  I had just broken up with my then fiance and was wondering if there really was a God out there.  Out of the blue this guy stops me....ME!  Of the hundreds of kids walking through the Student Union that day he stops ME.  He asked me if I knew who Jesus was and I responded "a picture on a wall."  He told me about who Jesus was, why He had to die, and that He loved me.
I walked away from that conversation knowing 2 things: that there is a God and that he saw me.  Knowing those 2 things radically changed the way I saw life, how I chose my husband, how I looked at money, it will affect the way I raise my children and how I treat people.

It is at what we call "contact table" that conversations like this happen on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Wright State.  Today was my first time back in many many years (it's been a long time coming).  But praise the Lord, talking so boldly about Him is just like riding a bike.  I was standing there talking to my new friend Nir, who is a Mesianic Jew (raised Jewish from Isreal but has accepted Jesus as the long awaited Messiah) and another new friend named Fady from Iraq, when a delightful young lady came up because she spoke both Arabic and Hebrew. She was going to help translate between both of the guys!  She too is from Isreal and only here for a month observing classes at Wright State.  She was hoping to run into a Christian group while here...and there we were for her!

Honestly, hearing her speak to Nir in Hebrew was breath taking and brought me to tears.  The old testament is written in Hebrew and it was reading through Isaiah 53 in Hebrew that lead Nir to accept Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior.  Nir also said that it was his first time being able to speak to someone fluently in Hebrew since he got here and that meant so much to him.  In 15 minutes the Lord fulfilled a longing Nir had to speak in his native tongue, answered our new friend Sharon's prayer of finding a Christian group on campus, and blessed my heart through seeing brothers and sisters in Christ coming together for His glory.

Missions is important.  Campus ministry is important.

Be encouraged today that the Lord sees you.  "El Roi" is one of the names of God and it means "the God that sees".  He knows what you are going through and He wants to help you through it :)
